Trial by Fire
“Yoga does not just change the way we see things, it transforms the person who sees.”
— B.K.S Iyengar
2 weeks ago I packed up the car, coaxed June in, and drove down to Marin. The drive was surreal because every other time I've done it, things have been on fire. Literally and metaphorically.
It got me thinking about our community which has been forged in the fire of the last 2 years. We've gone through a historical moment, leaning on one another and the practice for support, and we've emerged tested, tempered, and strengthened like steel.
Because yoga is a process of deep transformation, the tradition evokes and even worships fire (as Agni). And… yoga is very clear that for transformation to settle into the fabric of your being, you'll need consistent practice over a long period of time (abhyasa).
With online classes, many of you have become much more consistent. As the community has solidified, we've gone deeper into life-changing techniques. Like breathing with circumference, using rhythm to settle the nervous system, and building the strength in your bones.
When you practice on this deep level, it ripples off the mat. It transforms your very being. The strategies and skill, the grace and guts, cultivates an inner awareness that will carry you through ups and downs, even trials by fire.
Kanda’s mission is to educate and get more people practicing the timeless tools of yoga. This is why we have the Little (Free) Virtual Library as part of Guest Membership. There are classes, 20-minute miracles, webinars, tutorials and more.
If you know someone who's walking through fire right now, share with them. They can sign up for Guest Membership here: https://www.kandayogaschool.com/membership
To get started or evolve their practice, I recommend:
the 20-Minute Miracles (you’ll be amazed at what just 20 minutes of practice can do!)
Apana Vayu Practice (releasing and grounding)
Aligned Motives for Practice (a webinar on how to evolve your mindset and your practice)
Shoulder Studies (a mini course with Anatomy Tutorial and Practices)
May you be an agent of transformation.
