Weekly Virtual Classes at Kanda School

Grit & Grace style movement. Classes begin with a check-in and then practice is tailored to the needs of the small group. Expect releasing work at the beginning to calibrate your nervous system and maximize potential for transformation. Followed by nitty-gritty, sneaky-strength-building to create new neuro-pathways. Finally, there is grace-filled flow. Moving with your natural breathing and allowing new patterns to settle into your muscle memory. You’ll finish practice with a sense of satisfaction because there has been growth and gain.

Weekly Virtual Asana

Strong Practice

Asana Strong is where yoga asana meets movement science and functional strength training. You’ll build strength in a way that feels safe and sustainable.

You’ll want yoga blocks, yoga strap, resistance bands, a myofascial release ball, and hand weights.

Friday 11:30am - 12:30pm

Weekly In-Person Class at Yoga Shala Bend

Classes are called Align & Flow but you’ll see the signature Grit & Grace format. Nitty-gritty, sneaky-strength-building to create new pathways at the beginning. Followed by a grace-filled flowing moving with your natural breathing.

Grit & Grace: A one-hour practice with nitty-gritty details to build sneaky strength followed by a grace-filled flow moving with your natural breathing. This class transforms common postures and re-sets your practice for other classes and movement endeavors. 

Functional Breathing for Yogis

July, 7/24, 4:30-7pm

Learn the biomechanics of breathing from Doctor of Physical Therapy and founder of Academy West, Andy Sabatier. Then put it into your yoga practice with Alison Starr.

Expect an hour of lecture and anatomy. An hour of breathing-based practice (appropriate for all levels of yoga experience). Followed by 30 minutes of Q&A.

Resilience: Yoga, Fascia & Strength

August 8-10, The Introvert’s Retreat

A retreat for introverts! Enjoy the weekend workshop with the group and quiet time with your own lodging and meals. 

During the weekend, you’ll discover deep, whole-body power through your connective tissue. You’ll learn about fascia, how it applies to yoga, and why it’s key for building sustainable strength. 

Sessions will be:
