do you have a holiday hangover?
"For fast-acting relief, try slowing down."
— Lily Tomlin
I started seeing clients again yesterday. And everyone had a bit of a holiday hangover. Whether from work, family, or traveling. There was low energy, aches and pains, and a little frustration. Not to worry! it’s just a dorsal-vagal dip. But to restore and revitalize, stay slow. For at least 2 weeks.
Let me explain:
Similar to pre-holiday hectic, there is post-holiday pressure to bolt out of the gates and blast into the New Year. This is a recipe for panic attacks and burnout.
Instead, resist the rush. Build slowly. Because it’s aligned with the energy of time.
The holiday season is a sundhi. A transition point. Routines dissolve, life is less structured, and you’re less formed. Which means you're more malleable, life is more transform-able. Take advantage of this.
How?
Go slow enough to create something new and build momentum for a year-long marathon, not a mid-February sprint. Here are a few ideas:
Dream. Instead of jotting down a few obligatory goals, journal, dream, revise, and develop a vision of what’s to come. See it play out in your mind’s eye. This activates Buddhi, the higher mind, which is infinitely creative.
Build momentum steadily. This will allow you to BE the version of you that your vision needs. When you move quickly, you're more likely to slip into old grooves of being, doing and thinking. Nothing new comes from this.
Protect your space. Space may be mental, emotional, physical or spiritual. Whatever popped into your mind when you first read “protect your space”, trust it. And if you thought “what does that even mean?” get curious about what kind of space you need. Space = Potential.
Journaling and making lists are useful. But they’re mind-oriented. I want my body involved. To feel creation in my bones and tissue. And there are 20 Minute Miracles designed to do that. To help you move into new possibilities.
Aligned Motives guide you to feel Enough, know the Truth of Your Being, and Be of Benefit to all Beings without self-sacrificing.
In Nervous System Calibration practices, you shape shift to state shift. Sattva brings balance. Rajas discharges stress and frustration. Tamas is a bulletproof pick-me-up.
These practices are part of the 20 Minute Miracle Toolkit Subscription. They’re also in Curated Collections. If a subscription is not right for you, you can now purchase Curated Collections separately.
Imagine, instead of driving to the studio, dealing with traffic, finding a parking spot, hauling your mat around, spending an hour or more in a class (that you may or may not like!), you flip open your laptop, find your favorite practice, and in just 20-ish minutes you're a new human.
You can fix your lower back when it’s cranky. Reset your nervous system when you’re stressed. Or take that kink out of your neck.
You can return to focused practices that release your psoas, develop deep core, and strengthen your hamstrings.
You know exactly what to do to release a long day at work, recover from being snappy with family, or pluck yourself out of brooding.
In the future, Curated Collections will be $98 but, if you purchase this week, it’s only $54 because we love when you take on new adventures with us.
There are 29 practices, organized by theme so you can easily find what you need. Collections include Low Back Love, Upper Body Reset, Psoas Release Series, Hamstring Power, Deep Core Development, Travel Unravel, Nervous System Calibration, and Aligned Motives.
You can use collections in many different ways. Here are a few:
Practice with a theme for a week or three so you clearly see progress.
Use the collection like a playlist to stack 20 Minute Miracles into a longer practice.
Therapeutic practices are a healing journey for when your lower back goes out, your shoulder is sticky, or you’re fending off a migraine.
Want to share the love (and give a nudge) to someone who needs this? We’ve made it easy to send as a gift. More info below!
May your practice provide fast-acting relief,
